Take some time to browse through my work here and on Instagram, read “about me” and what people are saying who have worked with me. When you’re ready, just reach out and say hey. I’d love to talk with you and get a clear idea of your vision.

Before our session, I’ll do two things.

Encourage you to have a plan with a heart. I recommend meeting up in a place you’re familiar with or excited about, with a clear activity in mind—you’ll be more comfortable this way! The plan could be to let me document your dad making grilled cheese sandwiches for his grandkids. Or we could go to the Rappahannock River to document the first summer one of your children learned how to swim. I could tag along while you shop for a Christmas tree and put it up in your home, or hang out for a couple of hours on your annual camping trip. It doesn’t have to be special to anyone else, just to you.

Put together a contract. Once we’ve decided on an activity, location, date and time, I’ll send you a contract. Sign and return it, and Venmo me a $150 deposit to secure your session.

Here’s what I’ll do during our session.

Look around. I look for good light and complementary colors. I look for things like movement, people’s energy, and items of interest.

Pull out my bag of tricks. Depending on the ages of the people in your group, I tailor my bag of tricks to create moments that draw out candid results. For kids, think magnifying glasses, tiny animals, magic wands, flower tatoos, bouncy balls, a rock collection.

Talk to you. I know, I KNOW, it can be uncomfortable to be photographed. If I sense anyone is uneasy, I’ll talk and find common ground. It’s fun to get to know someone quickly in an intimate setting.

Let things happen. Though I will gather you all together for a posed group shot if that’s part of your vision, what I’m really looking for are moments that reveal what’s beautiful or special about you and your family members, documented in my unique style—maybe in a way you’ve never imagined or seen before.
